A number of years ago I purchased and Insight Pocket Guide to Bangkok that indludes a separate map. It's the best map I've found of Bangkok.

I'd also recommend the book. It's small, it fits in my purse, and it has some nic ideas for places to go, things to do. While it gives instructions for the usual Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerals Buddha, etc, it also has some other suggestions for places I hadn't made it to in many trips.
