Best way to get from Australia to Malaysia
I am planning a trip to Australia that will lead into a business trip to Malaysia and then a return to the states. Looking on line it seems that the number of hours it take to get to Malaysia from Brisbane, for example, are in the double digits. I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?
I believe the final leg of our Australia trip will be a vacation in the Great Barrier Reef. Does that mean I should be searching for flights from Brisbane to KUL?
Thanks,

I often fly from Bangkok to Cairns(via Sydney or Hong Kong) and I would say that it takes me about 14 - 15 hours total.
For Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Airline has a direct flight(MH 140) with the flying time of only 8 hours.

I wouldn't look at Tiger. They probably have one flight to Malyasia a day and if there is a problem and the flight cancelled... you're stuffed! There isn't another flight to get on to like Qantas etc.

I see that Malaysian Airlines leave Brisbane around 11:20PM, and gets into Kuala Lumpur next morning around 5:45AM. They would be a lot more reliable than Tiger. Most airlines would only have one flight per day to Malaysia.
By that statement, dont expect Malaysian Airlines to have multiple flights per day from Brisbane. There is not enough demand.
I live in Melbourne, and they have two flights per day to Kuala Lumpur.

I have never flown much with MALAYSIAN, except on one occasion from Kuala Lumpur to Penang. All my flights have been on THAI, but, from all reports , MALAYSIA would be good on business class.
THAI AIRLINES are very good in both economy and business. However, THAI will fly from Brisbane to Bangkok, and then you would have to take another flight down to Kuala Lumpur.
MALAYSIAN would be your best choice to get there direct and in comfort.
