I will be in Tokyo at the end of the month and have just discovered Kaiseki during my research. Can anyone suggest a great Kaiseki restaurant in Tokyo? I realize they are expensive, but I want to make sure that it is a good one and I'm willing to spend a little more. Thanks,

Its been a while, but we loved Hisada in the basement of the TTC building in Ebisu area. I may find the address later...

its been about five years, but i went to nadaman at the new otani in tokyo, in october. it was fabulous. we had a private room for six, and the food and service was just out of this world. i recalled i ran out of film(pre dig), so one of the staff got a new roll of film for us.

the meal cost $250 each, however, we had a private room. i'm sure the regular dining room will be alot less. if you like sake, they have a superior sake list. so, if you really want to experience an excellent kaiseki meal, this is it.

This is just the sort of thing your hotel concierge can help you with. A reservation is a must, and your concierge should know of places that are excellent as well as accommodating to first-time kaiseki diners.

If you go to Kyoto, there's a great place for kaiseki called Wakuden. They have a branch in one of the futuristic malls next to the train station (with set menues for about $50 and $80). And they have another location that costs about $350 a person. We ate at the cheaper place, and it was one of the best meals we've ever had.
