WGN Ragio in Chicago just reported that Benazir Bhutto was killed in a suicide attack this morning.

Considering the strategic importance of Pakistan these days, and its recent instability, this is quite possibly the worst news of 2007.

I was really upset (though not especially surprised) to hear this. What a way to end the year. Pakistani politics seem to have always been pretty disastrous - I sometimes wonder what would have happened in the sub-continent without Partition.

She survived one earlier but perished in this one, what a mess in Pakistan, Americans are told to stay put and not go to any memorial services.
