Bangkok to Siem Reap and back- Minivan van 12 people
We are a group of 12 people (40+) visiting Thailand in February 2011 on a budget trip. We plan a short visit to Angkor Wat from Bangkok. I used the bus to Siem Reap on a previous occasion but it took me a full day in both directions.. Please recommend if we as a group can book a minivan for our group to and from Siem Reap. We would prefer to book the vehicle for ourselves to save money and not pay per person. We plan to spend 2 full days at Angkor Wat. Any advice ?

You will need to do this trip in two stages. A van large enoigh for 12 people will cost around 5000 baht ($165) and take you to the boarder at Poipet in about 4-5 hrs. Once your group crosses into Cambodia you will go to the transportation terminal and here arrange for a large van for the trip to Siem Reap. Travel time around 2+ hrs over a now good road. I am not sure what a van will cost but should be under $100

Hi Abrie -
We are going as a group in the end of Dec month. I have approached the travel agent (http://www.thaicalltaxi.com/) to hire the mini van up to border(Poipet) with reasonable price - 3800 THB (appx 125$) for one way. I think this is best price after I checked much in websites.
You can reach the travel agent on + 66 89 011 7504 (Mr.Jac).
From Border, you can hire the same way to reach siem reap.
More information will be provided after I visit the cambodia.

Scotters please note I am often being a wisea$$ but not this time. We often have people arriving from Poipet in large groups and can never find any vans for them; we have to send vans from Siem Reap and then the taxi mafia up there gets all bent out of shape and it ends up costing them a fortune....a workaround is to send them in two cars, but when you're talking about big groups like 12 people plus luggage, that's like 27 cars
kereddy has a contact for the thai side, I was dreaming maybe you had contact info on the cambodian side...
