Flights:
Full Service: Thai( by far the most flights ) and Bangkok Airways.
Budget carriers: Air Asia and Nok Air
Discount carriers: One-2-Go ( i.e cheaper fares than full service but not those very low 'from' fares of the budget ones, also One-2-Gp you get normal baggage allowance etc )
Flight takes about 1 hr 10, scehduled 1 hr 20.
If you are just asking to get from A to B then certainly fly unless you were planning to stop at places on the way down or something like that.
Which airlines are you using for your 'long haul' flight ?
Where else are you flying in the region?
These are relevant for example if you were using Thai for long haul you can often get add on sectors if using Thai long haul, or, Bangkok Airways Discovery Pass or The Thai discounted pass for 3 or more sectors, that sort of deal, so deciding which carrier 'might' depend on your other travel plans.

Air asia and Nok Air have a 15 kg baggage allowance whereas others have 20 kg ( unless Business Class on Thai or using Nok 'Plus' in which case 30 kg per person ).
Unless you are on a 'tight' budget I would go for Thai, and if you can afford upgrade to Business Class, although only a short flight it can add some comfort/enjoyment if on Honeymoon (!)
