Hi
It depends of course on how much time you have on your hands...but there are lots of flights between the two places and this is the most comfortable way to travel
I have been to Thailand twice with my wife and we have been to places like Bangkok, Phuket, Samui, Krabi (Ao Nang), Hua Hin etc. I have posted our experiences in trip reports with pictures on my personal homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there

The most convenient way is to fly.
It will take approx 1.20 hrs by plane. You can find details in
www.thaiair.com or
www.phuketairlines.com
There are daily flights from Bangkok.
In Phuket, there're so many things to see and do.
Here're are the websites.
www.phuket.com
www.phuket.net
All accommodation by prices or locations, activities and sight seeing are detailed in them.
Hope this can help.

the only sensible way to go is to fly...thai air has frequent trips as do some of the new low cost airlines
hotels: www.huahin.20m.com good hotel site...select other areas and use drop down to select your city
