Bangkok to Chaing Mai

I am flying into Bangkok on Jetstar from Singapore. We are scheduled to arrive at 6:55 PM.
I was then going to take the Air Asia flight to Chaing Mai which departs at 8:40.

I thought it would be enough time. But now I'm not sure. Air Asia check-in counter closes 45 min befoe departure which would be 7:55pm. That gives us an hour to get our luggage, go thru customs and check in at Air Asia.

Has anyone been to Bangkok airport to know how long it generally takes.
Is it possible to make this flight?

There are 3 of us, so maybe its possible for 1 person to go to the Air Asia counter while the other 2 of us get the luggage.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This board has been so helpful and I will surely respond to others after my trip with beneficial info.

Sounds a bit tight to me.

This would be very tight. We arrived in Bangkok on a flight from London in april with a tight connection and only just made it. The biggest problem was the wait at the immigration queue which seemed even longer that at the old airport. From memory, I would say we spent 45mins queuing for immigration alone.

I would recommend either getting a later flight to Chiang Mai or going the next day.

Like Crellston, we too spent a long time in the immigration line...more like an hour for us, and the lines weren't even that long. We landed at 10:30 but weren't out of the airport until after 12:00. On our 2 domestic arrivals into BKK, it took us almost an hour to get from wheels down to the baggage claim and get bags and get out...gates are far from the central areas, bags come out slow.

You also need to consider your inbound flight being delayed. If you only have an hour to begin with to get to the check in counter, then even a 5 minute delay could be a huge problem.

The thing about Air Asia, too, is that if you miss the flight, that's it. No getting on another flight without buying another ticket.

If you haven't already bought the Jetstar tickets....did you know that Tiger Air flies to Chiang Mai from Singapore? That would certainly be the easier option.

Thanks for all the info.
However, we're screwed...
I already had booked the Jetstar flight awhile ago and booked the Asia Air flights yesterday.

Yep, the Tiger Airlines flight would have been perfect and cheaper.

I guess we'll have to pray the travel gods are on our side and we make the connection
