Bangkok Cooking Class

I'm looking for a half-day cooking class in Bangkok. So far I have seen Baipai.com as well as Blue Elephant.

Any other recommendations? I'm hoping for something very hands-on and not necessarily including a market visit.

Hey, a market visit is a big part of the fun, and a necessary part of the learning experience. Fresh ingredients is one of the keys to good Thai cooking. Bai Pai seems to be one of the good ones, but I haven't heard from anyone who's been there recently.

Blue Elephant included a market visit when we did it. Very much enjoyed it.

I did the Blue Elephant and it was great - plenty of hands on (mostly chopping and mixing) - the market visit is only included in the morning class. The Blue Elephant class is held indoors and they have a/c. Baipai is outdoors (no a/c) - depending on when you go, it could be hot and uncomfortable. Baipai is about half the price of Blue Elephant though.

I agree with Micahel, you really want to do a market visit. As many times as I've been to SE Asia, and as many times as I have visited markets, I still always learn something when I do one of these market tours with a cooking class.
