Bangalore
Will be in Bangalore twice in next three months - have not travelled to India before. Will surely be able to extend touring from Bangalore, but what to do? What sights must I visit while in country? What NOT to miss?

Do you want to plan a vacation after a visit to Bangalore and spend a couple of weeks or just add on a few days from a visit to Bangalore? What do you like to do? How do you like to travel?
I haven't been to Mysore - but that is a drive or train from Bangalore and could be a nice excursion.
I just returned from a trip to Pondycherry, Chennai - which can be a nice 5 hour train from Bangalore then down to Pondycherry. If a first timer a more traditional itinerary might be worthwhile (do some reading on this forum for some ideas of North India and South India itineraries)
It will be VERY hot. Perhaps if you want to skip a standard overview of India and head to the hills - others will do better on replying wher/how to do that.
In Bangalore - it isn't a tourist city -not a lot of sights. India is best enjoyed by doing anything....because sights and sounds are all around you. Go shopping, walk down MG road, take a walk in Kuben(sp?)park, just get out and about and you will see so much.
If you want more information beyond Bangalore better to repost with more specific title - "Help with 1 week itinary after visit in Bangalore" etc.
