Back to Bangkok for our 3rd Trip

We depart Jan 14th for our 3rd trip to Bangkok- we are ready for some hot weather as its been freezing here in Houston this last week. We are flying Northworst.... er.... I mean Northwest (frequent flyer miles- thats why). Our route- Houston to Minneapolis to Narita to Bangkok. We will be staying at the Plaza Athenee in their Royal Club Room. Ratt is picking us up at the airport ( enough of these endless Tong threads!). Olive has arranged for her massage every day from 2-4 pm at the hotel with the lady we used on our last trip.(very experienced and quite reasonable).

As this is our third trip to BKK we will be eating, shopping, hanging out at the pool and catching some shows- much more relaxation this time around and who knows maybe I'll work in a temple or two. We will have dinner on 2 nights with some friends. We will be there thru Jan 28 and depart on Jan 29th. This time since we have the club room priviledges I'll try to do a daily trip report.
Bill and Olive.

It's freezing here in Illinois as well... I'll bet we have colder temps than Houston... haha

Hey, have a great time! Bangkok is such a neat city to "live in" for a couple of weeks. I know you will find it relaxing, and yes, hot. We had hotter weather than usual when we were just there for the holidays. But I'd go back to it in a heartbeat!

Whatever you do, DON'T go to a ladyboy show. We're well aware of your delicate sensibilities. Have a great time. BTW, those of us in Boston refuse to listen to anyone from Houston complain about the cold.

I don't know what your idea of "shows" is, but I would recommend seeing Avatar at the Imax Theater in Siam Paragon.

Have fun, Bill. We stayed on the club floor of the Athenee a couple of years ago and it was great...

My wife, April, went to see Siam Niramit last July. She wanted me to tell you that you have to check in your phone and camera before the show. Besides that, she says the show is amazing! The show has a river on stage, and elephants that walk down the aisle! The audience gets to help out when they do the Loy Krathong portion of the show.

It was Aprils third trip to BKK as well, and when she was not working, she did exactly as you plan on doing!

Bob...Ice in Alabama? Go south! Hopefully there is no ice in Vegas for the next week. We fly in there tomorrow.

Bill, if you like shows, you and Olive would perhaps like the live stage show at Tawandang Brewery (the German brewery, the oldest one... maybe Rama 9?.. take a taxi). It's music and dancing and a variety of types, top 40 to oldies (singer Poo does these) and Thai music/dance as well. There is dancing in the aisles after about 10pm, when the crowd starts to "warm up" (the beer is really good..haha) ... a really FUN group of people goes to Tawandang. The wait staff also joins in on the dancing/singing. I think you'd have a good time! Stay late... try to get a seat down by the stage.

Then there is the live music in the pubs in Bangkok. The Huntsman, basement at Landmark Hotel Sukhumvit (by Nana BTS) has a really fantastic Philippino (sp) band. Or at least they DID have, the last time I was there. The food is OK... not great, but it might be an enjoyable evening for you and Olive.

Of course I can also recommend the "entertainment" at the Pickled Liver... it's not staged... it's just the usual group of interesting people that frequent the place!!

Enjoy your trip. Enjoy the hot weather!
