After 15 topics and a staggering 306 responses, our intrepid heroine seems to have disappeared.
Having lived through every one of her pre-trip terrors, not one of which eventuated, having lived through each change in plan, each hesitation, each apprehension, I'd rather like to know what happened, too. The thrills and spills of life in the Oberoi bubble will be interesting reading. Positively death-defying.
I'm just going to hold my breath till she replies. No food will pass my lips. I will not sleep nor go to the lavatory.
I imagine I'll be dead before she answers.

I will not die till you go to Sikkim, Cali. But I am getting very hungry and somewhat bloated, waiting for Juliajane's trip report. This whole thing is causing me untold grief; pledging to hold my breath till she replies. No food will pass my lips. I will not sleep nor go to the lavatory. has its downside.
I has a Thai nassage the other day, the massoozy had me bent double, my legs akimbo, bum pointed to heaven - she pressed on my nether regions and the poor darling was impaled by a cork to the forehead.
Save me Julia...

Dogster, you've inspired me to start a thread on "Massage in India"
"Legs akimbo" LOL--love that very English expression! Dear Lord, what a position! Living up to your name, eh Dog?
JJ, if you see the massage thread, perhaps you can tell us about Wildflower near Shimla, since it's famous for its spa.

I've stayed at Wildflower twice. The spa is wonderful. All the Oberois have the same spa company; Banyan I think? A lot of the masseuses are Thai or Burmese; very talented and all have been quite nice. The facilities are lovely, prices are, well, Oberoi level.
One of my stays at Wildflower was a package deal that included horseback rides, whitewater rafting, multiple spa treatments, and an ayurvedic consultation at the spa. The consultation was interesting, but the lifestyle suggestions were not really useful. I'd stick with the massages as they're consistently good.
The only thing I found disappointing at Wildflower Hall was their pools. They have one indoors, in sort of a glasshouse type room. The water is quite cool, but the room gets very hot and steamy if you are there in the hot months- too warm to sit on a chaise for very long, and the water was heavily chlorinated.
The outside pool is a large infinity whirlppol, but has a fabulous view of the hills and mountains. It is nice when the weather is cool, like it was when I was there in late October. When it is hot though, (June) the water and the sun were both too hot.
Unfortunately, there was only one umbrella too.
Wildflower is the type of place you go to just relax and recoup from the rest of India. It is about 30 minutes from Shimla and there is really nothing near the hotel. The views are pretty and the walks and rides are lovely though. The staff are very friendly.
