ATM's in Taiwan?

Just wondering whether I need to take travellers' checks for Taiwan or if I should be okay with my ATM card (MAC/NYCE/PLUS-compatible). (Yes, I have a 4-digit PIN.) The Lonely Planet guide from 2001 suggests checks...

I checked my travel journal, and found that when I was last in Taiwan (about 4 years ago), the ATM machine accepted my card, but all the instructions that come up on the screen were in Chinese, and there was no option for English. Fortunately, there was a key that said "cancel" which I did and got my card back. I don't know whether the ATMs there yet have an English language option.

I've never had a problem withdrawing money from an ATM in Taiwan. Every ATM i've used had an english option. The only problem I've encountered is that machines tend to run out of money.
