I think it's kind of depending when Kathie can get there, too. I don't have a problem with September since I'll only have a weekend anyway. The only thing is that I'll be jetlagged out of my mind, in September, since I'll be in Bangkok until the end of August. We'll wait to see what Kathy's schedule is...but the flights are going fast...I've been checking out the first weekend in August...which may be the weekend that Kathie can be there... and I can't even get a flight out of Burbank Airport which is not only closest to me, but serviced by United...where my frequent flyer miles are. I'd have to drive all the way to L.A. airport and go on Hawaiian Airlines. Happy Travels!

Ok, I finally have a date. I'll be in Honolulu on Saturday night August 6.

For you locals, any suggestions for hotels? I usually stay at the Hyatt but they are FULL. I'm thinking maybe the Royal Hawaiian. I love pink stucco confections...

The Hilton Hawaiian Village has a nice layout of their gardens.

Here are some websites:

Check out the Hawaii forum for suggestions too.

The Outrigger Waikiki gets good review for location.

Thanks, Isis for the suggestions. It appears that my business trip is scheduled at the same time as some big convention or something. So finding lodging is harder than usual. I will investigate those booking sites.

My business will be on Thursday and Friday (I'll fly in on Wednesday). So we could get together on Friday night or on Saturday night and I will fly out on Sunday morning.

Hmmm.... I'm still trying to get a hotel. Any chance we could do it on Friday night or Saturday at lunch? That would mean I could take a redeye home on Saturday night. It appears that my Saturday night stay is what makes it hardest to get a hotel room.

For those trying to make reservations in Waikiki at this time try the link below for hotels. It's not as upscale as the Sheraton's but they do have availability at some hotels at the times you need 8/4 thru 8/7. Hope this helps!

Hawaiian, thanks for the tip. I found that I could get reservations at the Royal Hawaiian by calling the hotel itself (the main starwood number and website showed no availability). I just couldn't get the Saturday night. I have found availability somewhere else for that night, if necessary.
