Baygon or anything like this!
But in reality they cant be avoided. They are much older than the human race and will still be there if we are longtime extinguished already.

Do not leave your luggage open. Try to take out as few things as possible. In other words, leave as few things outside that they can crawl into as possible.

They need water and food, so will appear mostly in the bathroom or vanities that are located separately.

If you see one, that's an indication there are lots more in the walls. e.g., if there are gaps or holes in the shower stall, get those closed up.

Good luck! I just came back from the desert Southwest of the US and, even in a very good hotel, there was one cockroach. They will inherit the earth, for sure!

Make sure that there are no food items in your luggage. Baygon (as mentioned earlier) works sometimes.

When we travel, we usually buy a local insect repellent and spray it in our room everyday.

Whay Hanuman says make a great deal of sense.

I used to 'hate' bugs, in paticular cockroaches, but somehow over the years mindset has changed and I have gone from loathing the sight of one to something like 'accepting'.
Whatever has changed in me I would now use a piece of paper to 'usher' one out the door begore squshing or spraying it.
Yeh - I know thew health issues, but I really hate using sprays unless absolutely no choice.

I'm not saying you welcome them but I agree that if yo can manage to shift the mindset it can certainly help to avaoid stressing over it.

i suspect that it may depend on the level of hotel you are staying in and how much they pay attention to this type of thing...
