April 2006 Itinerary - Need hotel help!

I’m planning a first time trip to Thailand with my husband in 2006. Not sure if I’m planning too early, but I’m excited to go. Based on what I’ve read on this forum here’s my itinerary:

April 1-4: Bangkok
April 5-8: Chiang Mai
April 9-10: Krabi
April 11-13: Ko Lanta
April 14: Bangkok

Could you suggest hotels at each of these places? We are both 30 years old and like to stay at good/luxury hotels. We would like to spend approximately $70 US per night, give or take a few dollars. Any suggestions?

Fodorites will give youplenty of ideas on places to stay in BKK for that $$$ range but they will not be luxury, luxury is the Oriental, Penn, ShangriLa, Four seasons etc.

Just as a rough guideline, and also is next year so rates could change, as said you won't get top luxury but 3 star level for that price

Bangkok lots of choice from USD 50-70
Chiang Mai: Novotel about USD 45
Krabi: La Playa about USD 50-60
Koh Lanta: Lanta Casuarina starts at USD 30, Beach front Villa about USD 60

These are just rough examples of what you can get

Go to www.asiahotels.com for some ideas of hotels in your price range. They also have reviews that are helpful. Then come back and ask about specific hotels for additional input.

As as been said you won't get five star for that money but you will get decent quality -- 3 or possibly 4 star depending on when you go or what kind of deals you find.

For Chiang Mai I would suggest you check out Chiang Mai Plaza and Tamarind Village. Also you can read about Baan Orapin which is more of a B and B if you do a search on this site.

See my earlier posts about Ibrik in BKK, about that price range, and a unique accomodation. www.ibrikresort.com. Have fun planning your trip!

Actually, I found the e-mail for the Sukothai guest house, called Orchid Hibiscus Guest House (I think I found a website before but maybe only in Italian, although we exchanged e-mails in English and the brochure I received was in English.) [email protected].

Try www.beachsiam.com, they have a huge range of places in all those locations, plus places on remote beaches and out of the way places.
