Another strike in Nepal

See http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010...l-strike-nepal

I hope things will be quieter come November! (Actually, I hope they're quieter much sooner, but that's when I plan to be there.)

There's no way of knowing, thursday. But I'd stay calm. In Nepali politics, November is 1000 years away.

There are strikes in Nepal, and there are STRIKES. When I was there, there was a one-day strike that kind of fizzled out. There was a larger strike last time dogster was there that did shut things down for a day or two.

I do hope things are quiet for you.

Yes, I posted this more as a heads-up for current travelers. I did note that the gov. was laying on shuttles for foreigners.

Oh no! I am supposed to leave on May 12th for 3 weeks in Nepal.

Any ideas how long these typically last? I am well aware that these strikes frequently occur, but wasn't sure how long I should wait until I think about cancelling.
