Flordia 1 you would love this Hyatt in Danang. It is georgeous. We have s ocean view room. Pools in front of us,, waves rolling in in back I'df that.. Club and it's pool are back from the ocean, but very enjoyable.

Sitting in the dark on our balcony listening to the waves crashing and watching the twinkling lutes across the bay and the lights on the hotel property..

Hyatt is a huge resort sea facing with a fantastic beach and several pools.
Good drinks and nibbles in the club tonight after a late afternoon swim.

Hoi an is a 30 minute ride away.

Tomorrow is our last full day in Vietnam and our last day with Peter and Linda for this year...Italy and Croatia seem to be on the horizon for Oct, 2016...

Rhkkmk, what in particular about curtains shower at the Anantara annoyed you? Afraid Mrs will sneak a peak?

Seriously: lack of shower curtains or glass is one of my pet peeves too. At least your hotel had a proper shower stall, vs the ones where the shower is a spout on the wall, spraying all over the bathroom floor. Ewwww..

Otoh, there was the Sofitel Metropol with its two types of bathrobes! Agree with your assessment of its Fr Quarter location (and the place itself) : fantastic!!

Happy homeward trails.

Peter and Linda. ..enjoy Japan. I hope you see some late color.

Where to in Bangkok this time Bob? I remember you will fly to Vienna soon. Bundle up! Europe is chilly and rainy. Hello from Lausanne Switzerland where we have finally escaped the rain. We now have CNN International and a number of English channels...not just the Aljazeera we had in remote Germany. Off to Geneva for a day trip today.

Bob I'm with you on the shower discussion. Proper walls and glass door are preferred. We have a tub with shower right now, which will do. Hubby can sure get things wet though!

Travel on!!!

I hate a 1/2 glass door, but at Anantara there was nothing...

I am big so need a deflection for water or the room fills with water

Carol, we will be at Renaissance on plenochit.

At Vienna it will be the Renaissance imperial riding school.

Vietnam has been lots of fun, largely because of our travel companions, the HITravellers... We seem to be so in line on everything...

We head back to Hanoi at 8:30 AM, where we transfer to Qatar to BKK arriving about 7.

The next 5 days will be quiet... Maybe some good food, some shopping, some reflexation and some planning for our return to SEA.

We loved our stay in Vietnam and always enjoy our time with the Kimballs. Forever grateful for their in depth pre planning and especially their friendship. We now move on to Japan for 10 days and will miss their company immensely but we travel on.....
Looking forward to Croatia in 2016!

Aloha!

Travel on, fodorites! Bundle up when you get to Japan and Europe, and especially Bob and Karen when returning to New England. I heard something about a record breaking USA snow coverage on the date 12-1-15. Glad we missed it as we were in rainy Cologne.

Carol-The record breaking snow was in the midwest. We in the northeast are experiencing beautiful late fall weather, brisk
and no snow yet. Hope that continues once Bob and Karen return in mid Dec.

HT-Enjoy Japan. We loved our time there and hope to go back some day.

Bob and Karen-Enjoy the rest of your vacation, and safe travels coming home.

Flew danang to Hanoi to bangkok today... Only to end up in a huge traffic jam in bkk. This took all day..

Room service tonight in our room.

Interesting to see the old cement Quonset huts at danang airport left from the 1960's when this field was an American airfield. They were used then for housing jets and are used today for blue Vietnam fighter jets.

No real plans for the upcoming days, just wind down and look forward to winter weather in both Vienna and New England.
