Amanpuri v Rayavadee

Hi, please could you help. I am having a very difficult time chosing between these two first class establishments (Phuket and Krabi). Everyone seems to have nothing but good reports about both resorts. Therefore, any additional advice and opnions would be very much appreciated. Which one do I go for?
Many thanks,
Dyaln.

This is a very interesting and techincal question.

I would have to say that it depends when you are going due to weather conditions.

They are also not at all the same type of resort.

With this type of meny to spend why not go to both ?

John
www.suiteasia.com
Travel Message Boards and Community
Made in Asia about Asia

We intend to travel in Febuary. As we are only going for a week, some people have suggested that we only stay at one of the resorts (although initially, we did consider staying at both). What do u think?

Dylan,
My wife and I went to Phuket on our Honeymoon last April.

We had planned on staying at Amanpuri but were tipped off by a friend that the Chedi, is a much better choice as it is essentially the same resort.

They share the same beach and are right next door to one another. (Frankly, the Chedi beach is much larger and I think better for swimming) They have mutual signing privalges and are essentially run by the same company

We were also able to get a beachfront room at the Chedi for the cost of the cheapest room at Amanpuri. I will tell you that the rooms at Amanpuri are nicer and if cost isn't a consideration, you may just choose to stay there.

However, we thought our $500+ a night was better spent on a beachfront room rather than a mountain-side room at the back of the Amanpuri resort.

You can't go wrong with either hotel, though.

FYI, check out the Phuket.com website as it has links to hotels in the area, including the two I mentioned.

Good luck and please ask for restaurant advice, if needed.

There are major differemces between the Chedi and the Aman even though they are right next door to one an other.

At the Aman you are mixing among people who do not consider US$ 500 and up too much to pay for a hotel room and if you fall in that category it may be good and perhaps some woyuld say even beneficial to stay among 'you own'.

The Chedi is also inferior in room quality, service quality etc

In fact the last I was there the majority of the rooms at the Chedi do not have a bath tub even.

John
www.SuiteAsia.com
Travel Message Boards and Community
Made in Asia for Asia
