Accomodation in Bangkok

Hello
It is confirmed that i fly to Bangkok on July 18 around 1:30 pm and it takes 6 hours flight to reach in Bangkok.the time difference between Kathmandu-bangkok is one hours, which means i reach bankok in night.Yet i have not booked any room in hotel.I would like to have budget room and little good one,so can any one suggest how can i book or i can get directly there(the problem is i reached there in night) in bangkok?
suggest me best way to get good and basic room and its cost?
Next day i would like to take bus and ferry to Ko Samui?
Thanks

I am guessing you want something significantly lower priced than the above, a hostel or a guesthouse. If you are headed via bus the next morning, perhaps something close to the bus station.

You can make reservations in advance or even right before you catch your flight.

Suk11 on Sukhumvit Soi 11 would be great to meet other travelers ... the place is highly rated and regarded by others on lonely planet's Thailand forum.

You can find some cheaper hotels in the Sukhumvit Road area too. One advantage of having a hotel or hostel in the Sukhumvit Road area is being able to use the Skytrain. Up to midnight you can even use the new Airport Rail Link to take you to Phaya Thai where you connect with the Skytrain. Use the Skytrain and get off at the Nana stop. Total cost maybe 85 baht.

Soi 1 Hostel. Near Bumrungrad Hospital. Walk from the Nana Skytrain stop to this place. You can use the same Skytrain to get to Suk 11 Hostel too. If you are going to be in Bangkok for a while take the time to check out some other nearby hotels. Some cheap hotels do not have fancy websites and rely on walk-ins and email bookings.

Other hostels in Siam and Silom where you can also use the Skytrain. Lub D.

No Skytrain after midnight.

Good luck.

How long will you be in Thailand? Travel to Koh Samui will take longer than flying to Bangkok from your country.
http://www.asiatravel.com/samui_info/map.html

Bus schedule and approximate prices:
http://www.kohsamui-info.com/transportation/coach.html

If you go by bus buy the ticket from a real bus station and not one of the Khao San Road travel agencies. Most of the problems tourists have with buses is when the bus is booked in the Khao San Road area. Do not put any valuables in your checked in bag! No passports, no jewelry, no small electronics, etc. Keep valuables, passport, cash with you at your seat or within view!

You can take the train from Hualamphong to Surat Thani.
http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm

Here is a cheap hotel convenient for the Hualamphong Train Station but not much else. Train Inn:
http://www.thetraininn.com/

Hua Lamphong can be reached by the subway. The subway connects with the Skytrain and with the Rail Link (short walk from Makkasan.)

If your time is real short in Thailand then fly instead of taking the bus or train!

Many tourists from India and some from Nepal I suppose, visit Pattaya for a nearby beach area. Crappier beach than Phuket but the hotels are cheaper and the bus ride is only 115 baht for the 2 hour ride from Ekamai. (Ekamai is on a Skytrain stop.) In Pattaya you will find malls, street vendors, nightlife, restaurants, etc. Local transportation is only 10 baht per ride!

If your time is short consider how far Koh Samui is from Bangkok. If you have plenty of time then stay longer in Bangkok and use the train or bus if you want.

Up to you.
