About Bali, Indonesia
I am posted in Jakarta for three years. I am planning to visit Bali in the near future. Can anybody suggest me on the following points:
1. Which is the best time of the year to go there.
2. How can we go from Jakarta to Bali
3. What are the places to see in Bali
4. How many days should we spend in Bali.
5. Which hotel/resort to stay in.

First of all, get yourself a good guidebook on Bali.
You can go to Bali any time of the year. Bali is pleasant even during the rainy season.
Fly from Jakarta to Bali, it's fast and easy and there are inexpensive airfares.
The guidebook will help you decide what you want to see and do on Bali.
Sine you are so close to Bali, you could go for even just a weekend. But to get a flavor of Bali, you'll want a week.
There are hundreds of places to stay in Bali. Where to stay depends on your preferences and budget. If you spend a week or more there, you might want to spend some of your time at a beach location and some inland near Ubud. The two areas I don't recommend you stay are Nusa Dua, a sterile tourist enclave of expensive hotels and no hint of Bali, and Kuta which is a party beach full of drunk adolescents.

Bali is an excellant get away from the hectic Jakarta. Like mentioned above there a tons of airlines flying to Denpasar, so flying is the easiest way to go.
Since you are living in Indonesia I would definitely go in the low season, rates are lower and it's less crowded. Avoid weekends if possible. Weather wise, the rainy season normally doesn't really impact your stay in Bali unless you plan to do some hiking.
If you want to check out what places you should see go to http://www.bali-travel-life.com You can find a lot of information on Bali here plus great pictures.
As for how long you should stay, like I said you can fly very cheap to Bali and since you will be staying in Jakarta for 3 years you will probably head to Bali a couple of times. Even to the places you've already been! But if you want to go only once at least 14 days to experience and appriciate everything.
There are loads of accommodations to choose from. There is everything for any budget!

It's a lot of robbery in Jakarta, don't use jewellery
always watch out your handbag, don't just put in the chair etc.
make a copy of your important document
you can go to bali with domestic airlines such a lion air, garuda air, asia air (malaysia)
plenty of tour and travel in jakarta sells great price packages to singapore
(airticket plus hotel) and it's easy to getting around there
