Kathie: I just called the front desk, here at the Four Seasons, and the new hotel chain will keep Biscotti. Those folks at the front desk probably think I've lost my mind with all the questions. I told them that I was on a travel forum right now and folks wanted to know and the person on the phone and I started laughing. LOL!

Happy Travels!

"Guenmai, sorry we're not connecting up! Yes, busy schedules have a way of messing things up. Enjoy your time in SE Asia. Are you going to Penang or KL? I hoped to make it to Penang at some point. Singapore is great! I'm sure you'll enjoy it all. Hope your weather cooperates. "

Carol: I'll be in Georgetown, Penang after I leave Bangkok. That's the only place that will be a first-time place for me on this trip. I'll be booked into the Eastern and Oriental for a week. Then, after that, it's on to Kuala Lumpur, where I've been before and I'll have another condo there. I'll end, where I began, in wonderful Singapore where of course I've been more times than I remember. But, I need to get some chili crab and Peranakan food before heading back to L.A. LOL! But, I'll probably get plenty of Peranakan food in Penang.

Then after I get back home to L.A., I'll be home for 6 days before flying to New Orleans to Mardi Gras to catch some of those Mardi Gras beads! After that, it's home for two days before going back to work. And yes, I know that I officially retired young, two and a half years ago, but after over 30 years straight of working, but I kept two of my jobs on the side and part time. I need to have a job to go to and they need folks who are dependable and with a lot of experience. So, it's a win win situation.

Have a safe trip home.

Happy Travels!

Sounds like a great trip Guenmai. Enjoy it all!

Looks like we will try MEJICO for dinner. It appears to be an upscale Mexican restaurant. The location is in Central World. We will have friends joining us. Should be a nice time.

We will be off to the airport about 10:30.

Carol: I didn't notice that Mexican restaurant in Central World. I'll have to check it out. But, I did eat at Pomodoro Italian restaurant, top level of the mall, and what I ordered was really good. It was snow fish with white and black (ink) linguine. I also had a glass of lemon juice (really lime aid) which was really good and a bottle of Italian water. It wasn't cheap as the check was 976 baht, according to my expense journal. Yikes. But, it was good enough to eat there again.

I was just watching CNN News and I see that it's 93 degrees outside today. I don't know as I haven't left the building. I had so much to do today, but canceled everything as I just needed to sleep. I was to stop by Amarin Plaza to see a Thai friend who owns a business, but I'll do it, when I do it. LOL!

My life is extremely busy at home, a revolving door schedule, and now it's time to just slow down and rest. But, I need to get out of bed now, get dressed, and go to my dinner reservation, here in the building, as I haven't eaten since breakfast. Do report back as to how the Mexican restaurant was. I really could go for a burrito right now. LOL! I can't believe that you'll be eating walking distance up the street from me. I should have tried to plan our connection better even with our conflicting schedules. Oh, well, it is what it is. Eat well!

Oh, according to CNN, the cold spell has left L.A. My sister had e-mailed that on Jan 01, it had gotten to 35 degrees, yikes, coldest day in 80-something years. According to CNN, it's now 75 degrees. I hope it holds when I get home in February. If it's too cold in New Orleans, I won't be flying to Mardi Gras. Thanks goodness for travel insurance. LOL!

Yikes, I have 15 minutes to get to my dinner reservation!

Take care and keep in touch.

Happy Travels!

Carol: Tonight at dinner, I was told that Four Seasons is building its residencies on the river, near Asiatique and they should be up in about 3 years. It hasn't been decided if a hotel will also accompany them or in a separate building. Well, if that happens, I don't know if I'll stay at the Four Seasons as I'm not a river person.

the anantara group (Minor Corp) has owned and run the four seasons for a number of years, so I would expect everything would stay largely the same for some time...

Kathie: That'll be right up your alley if a Four Seasons hotel ends up on the river. But, for now the concentration, I've been told, is on the residences. While here, I'll be shopping around for some new hotels. I'll have one night at the St. Regis to try it out and I really should have booked a night at the Hansar as it's a few steps away from my condo building.

In the future, hopefully I'll continue to rent the condo and then throw in a couple of luxury hotels between condo stays. I like the condo a lot and I'm on a low floor. But, on my return trip, hopefully next year, I'll also try out the Anatara and if it's OK, then I'll probably stick to it as it's a low-rise building. I was staying in this same building back when the sign said, The Regents, a Four Seasons Hotel, and it turned out fine and then it changed over to The Four Seasons.

As long as Biscotti stays, I'm a happy camper. I had dinner there again last night, absolutely delicious Tasmanian salmon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus and another delicious organic salad. I had them throw in some sautéed spinach for me,too. It's weird how I crave italian when in Bangkok. I guess it's because I eat so much Thai food at home in L.A. with Thai friends owning restaurants. The guy who has the condo that I'm renting is American Thai, from L.A.

Happy Travels!

Carol: I know you're flying now, but I can't wait to hear how the Mexican restaurant was at Central. Smiles.

Hello from Illinois! We are leaving the Chicago suburbs and should be in the burg by 5:00.

Sorry to say, Mejico was a HUGE disappointment. There is no resemblance to the Mexican food we like to eat! The guy who owns the place is from Canada. I have no idea how he came up with his menu. Maybe it is Acapulco food...? The guacamole was good, but a very small portion. There are chicken tacos, but the picture on the menu made me have second thoughts about ordering them. No ground beef tacos with lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc. I honestly only recognized the guacamole as something I had eaten before. A few of the guys ordered the pork belly and said it was good. I ordered tuna tostada, not knowing what I would get. It was 4 small chips with raw tuna and seasonings on top. One bite and I stopped eating and shared my plate with others. Guenmai, give this place a pass! Brad and others say the best Mexican food is at a smsll place at Mahatun Plaza, by Phloenchit BTS. We went there a few years ago but it was closed and we haven't gone back. Wish we had tried to go there instead of Mejico!!

Carol: Glad you made it home safely.

As for the Mexican food restaurant, yikes, thanks for the heads up as I need to go to Central World today. Who in the world can mess up Mexican food? Sad. I'll probably just do lunch here at Biscotti again today before heading to Central World. Lunch yesterday, the anti-pasta bar, was delicious as was the bluefin tuna entree that I had to go along with it. Today, I think I'll just go for the anti-pasta bar as I was a bit too stuffed yesterday. I had to walk it off, when I zipped over to Emporium Mall after lunch. LOL!

Happy Travels!

Bob, I saw your newsflash that the Four Seasons will become Anatara Spa, and Four Seasons+ condos will be on the River. Will they be building on the current Anatara riverside site, or a different location?

Lcuy: I was told by the Four Seasons staff, here, that the focus is on the residences to be completed in about 3 years, on the river. As for a hotel, I've been told that that has not been decided yet and if it is, they don't know if it will be part of the residences or a separate hotel if it ends up built at all. I can only go by what I've been told as I'm at the Four Seasons right now. I was also told that the residences are to be built near Asiatique.

As far as the Four Seasons becoming the Antara, that will happen on March 01, so fortunately I got here before the change over.

Happy Travels!

Bob, we've been to Senor Pico years ago. Not lately. Sunrise Taco at Terminal 21 is also acceptable, but not great. Guenmai, you are right. How can someone mess up Mexican food! As long as it is made with fredh ingredients it should be pretty good.

Home sweet home, and my own bed, sure felt good yesterday. We walked in the door about 4:30. Roads around Chicago were fine. Downstate, closer to home, there were slippery spots and vehicles in the ditch. Glad to be off the road now! Temp high today is going to bebelow 0. Wonderful!

Heading to Mayo in Minnesota on Sunday for Monday and Tuesday apps. Thinking positive thoughts!

Unpacking starts this morning...

Carol: Today I had some things to do at Central World and by the time I finished, I was a bit hungry. So, I went over to that section called, Groove, as I've never been in it before. I don't think it was there when I was last in Bangkok, but that office building section was there. Anyhow, as I was walking in there, I noticed the Mexican restaurant that you were talking about. So, I looked at the menu. There was one couple sitting there eating and I looked at their plates of food and one I think was eating that tostado that you ordered. It was some small chips with something on top.

I left and looked around at the other restaurants, in that Groove area, and chose another one. Then, I ordered a lime aid, to go with my food, and drank it down pretty fast as I was very dehydrated. I then asked for another lime aid. Well, it ended up on the table, in the booth next to me, and the guy next to me started drinking it. Then my waiter noticed that the other waiter had delivered it to the wrong table and rushed over and picked it up and put it on my table. Huh? Give me a drink that I witnessed another person drink from. Well, let's just say I had some choice words with the waiter, told him to cancel my second one, and to bring the check.

Oh, I just checked my e-mail and a Thai friend of mine and her sister, whom I don't know, want to take me out to dinner. She said that they want to take me to Hemingways. Don't you eat there? She said it's on soi 14. Is that Asoke? Anyhow, she wanted to go tonight, but I just got the e-mail so I told her that maybe on Friday as I move back to the condo tomorrow.

Happy Travels!
