HI everyone! Well, I have finally nailed down the shell of our itinerary (with some of the details filled in). As you can see from my other posts, I still have many more questions, however, I just wanted to let you all know how helpful your advice hs been. Definitely has made an impact on our trip and I think it is for the best. Wanted to give you an update of our timeline:
Tokyo - 3 days, staying at Oak Hotel in Taito-ku
Singapore - 2.5 days - staying at friends
fly to Siem Reap - 3 days, staying at Two Dragons
bus/boat to Phnom Penh - 2.5 days, staying at the Pavillion
bus/boat to Chau Doc - 1 night, staying at Trung Nguyen Hotel
bus/boat to Can Tho or My Tho - 1 night
bus to Saigon - 4 nights (may reduce it to 3), staying at Hong Han
bus to Hoi an - 2 nights
bus to Hanoi - 4 nights (one on a cruise of Halong Bay)
flight to Luang Prabang - 2 nights
flight to Chiang Mai - 3 nights
overnight train to Bangkok - 4 nights
flight to Beach (haven't decide which one yet) - 5 nights
flight to Singapore - 1 more night
So now that the itinerary is pretty much set, anything extraordinary (meaning off the tourist path) we need to do? Restaurants (would love more local places, just don't want to eat scorpions, grasshoppers...)? Cooking classes?
