I would urge caution re the timing of your boat trip from northern Thailand to Luang Prabang. The burning season usually starts around mid Feb to early March and can last through until the end of April. We did that trip one year in late March and the smoke was terrible all the way down the river for the whole two days. Some photos taken from the boat
It can be much worse in some years than others but there is no real way of predicting. If your planned trip is in jan or early Feb there shouldn’t be a problem.
