11 days in and around Anchorage
We plan to arrive late June 22 and fly out late July 3. We are committed the 29th and possably the 30th at Anchorage for business. I need help with the planning of the rest of the time. We will rent a motor home, so we will be more flexable. I know I need to reserve space at Denali and book the schuttle bus to Wonder Lake. What about the Husky Kennel Tours? Which is best, the 2 1/2 hr at the park or Huskey Homestead Tours for 1 1/2? Is 2 nights enough time?
Should we do both tours, the Prince William Sound out of Whittier and the Kenai Fjords Tours out of Seward? How soon do I need to make reservations for these? How long of tour should we get? 6 1/2 or 9 1/2 hours?? We want to spend some time at Homer also.
Should we make the drive from Denali back to Anchorage on the George Parks Highway or take the Richardson Highway and go down to Valdez and across to Palmer to make the loop? Do we need to reserve other campsite space in advance?
We are interested in seeing the beautiful scenery and wildlife, but not in fishing ect. All help appreciated with time frame plan on when to do what.

I'll answer some of your questions.
At Denali....if you can, stay inside the park at the Denali Backcountry Lodge. It's 90 miles inside the park past Wonder Lake in the town of Kantishna. Words cannot explain the amount of nature you will experience there. If you go to the train station at Denali Park you'll see flyers in slots on the posts that hold up the station. These flyers are good for a discount of 60% off the regular nitely rate at the lodge. Wish I had known about this before I bookded our stay there but....
If you don't stay in the park definately do the 2 1/2 hr husky tour...my kids loved it.
Take the George Parks down to Anchorage.
The most beautiful scenery while driving is south of Anchorage.
I personally LOVE Homer. If you stay there stay on the spit. There is a RV campsite right on the end of the spit next to the Lands End Resort. I woke up one evening while staying at the Land's End to a peculiar sound. I went out to our second floor balcony to see a pod of Orca playing about 20 yards in front of me. I watched for 2 hours. The place is AMAZING!
Seward is a nice place but doesn't hold a candle to Homer IMHO. If in Seward you must do the Kenai Fjords Tour. You can have lunch right next to a glacier and watch (and hear) it calve as you eat.
The drive from Seward down the Kenai Peninsula to Homer is one of the most scenic drives I have ever made(just watch out for the Moose).
Anyway whatever you do you'll have a blast in AK.
Aloha!

I would do both the Kenai Fjords tour out of Seward - also visit Exit glacier when you are here and there are 2 good tours out of Whittier - Prince William Sound Wilderness Tour and 26 glacier Tour. I have done the Prince Williamm Sound tour but the 26 glacier tour also looks very good. I would probably put the Seward one first if you can only do one. I would choose the longer tours if possible.
There is also dog sledding on wheels in Seward:

This is Mitch Seavey's kennel. MItch won the Iditrod in 2004 - sorry, am not familiar with the other kennel.
I would probably go over to the Alaska section of this board for more info.
The tours in Denali do book up quickly - I would look at booking this in the next couple of months.
