My friends and I are leaving for London in 39 days. Below are our flight plans from MCO to LGW on US (we booked in March). I would like to know the overall experience of CLT to LGW on US. I haven't flown US since 1987 when I was 7 years old and they had the old three reds scheme.

My sister flies US all the time and said that connecting in CLT was a breeze. I booked us a 3 hour layover on the way there and the way back because I don't want to lose my bags. (I am packing 3 days of clothes in my carry on.) I know to stay away from PHL.

I don't see the leg from CLT to LGW in your itinerary.

I know for a fact that there are(2 perhaps?) nonstop flts to GTW from CLT. So you're only doing MCO-CLT-GTW and backwards on the return itinerary.

Charlotte to Gatwick is flight 732, and Gatwick back to Charlotte is flight 733

Wait, did you mean LGW as London Gatwick? The airport code for London Gatwick is GTW. LGW is La Guardia airport.

If that's the case then I don't see the problem. Yeah, PHL can be crazy. But there's also a flt from PHL to LHR (London Heathrow) now. It's a fairly new route. It's not as popular yet as the flt to GTW out of PHL.

I'll stop usign LGW as the abbreviation for Gatwick.

I'm just wanting to know for people who have done Charlotte-Gatwick how the connection and service have been. I know that US has baggage issues in PHL, that's why we're going through CLT.

Ooops you're right. LGA is La Guardia, Gatwick is LGW. sorry. my ignorance.

That's a good plan in my opinion. PHL is notorious for delays and lazy ground crew. Horror stories from years gone by and some recently, baggage workers didn't show up. All 90% of them, due to a summer heatwave. Many people were stranded. So good call on CLT.

Does anyone know where I can find some interior shots of US A330? I would like to have an idea about how much room I'm going to have in economy class!

Airliners.net just changed their whole search feature. I can't even find US planes at either MCO or CLT without it being a hassle.

Living in Charlotte I have taken these particular flights to and from London Gatwick several times, usually in Envoy class but once in Coach, and the service in both places was absolutely fine. I never had any delays in either direction. The AVOD works well; my only complaint with their version is that there is no moving map. I am booked again with them on these flights in November.

They must have changed it back. All I know is that airliners.net used to be a great website. Then the owner decided to change everything.

Here's a question for y'all. One of the reasons I am interested in flying US via CLT is that I've never been on an Airbus widebody. I've flown on 767s and 777s before, but not the A330.

Any pros or cons? Or will it basically all be the same?

tnnonline - we haven't flown the A330, but have flown 767s, 777s, and A340s many times. In terms of seats and space (excluding service issues, etc), very little difference in our experience. Coach is coach. Hope this helps.

I've been on both Boeing and Airbus narrowbodies, and have found the Boeing flights to be much smoother (especially 737NG). This trip will be my first time on an Airbus widebody.

They all ride the same. Just depends on whether you hit turbulence.

The Airbuses are slightly quieter than equivalent Boeings. But no difference when I'm wearing my noise-isolating headphones.

I'd pick A over B, B over A only if you're an airliner nut. The type that keeps a database of plane type flown has has a page on flightmemory.com.
