This is exactly what I tried to convey in my post. As far as contacting the FAA, I've not been impressed with their policies or efficency. They seem to be every bit as cluless or unconcerned as those that have imposed these inane baggage charges.

It's not just the checked-baggage fee, although that's a biggie.

Will be VERY interested to hear about what happens when there isn't enough room in the overhead bins for all the carryons creating battles between the first-group back-of-the-plane boarders and the front-of-the-plane PAX who have no place to put their stuff -- AND no one is sure whether gate-checks incur the $15 fee -- AND TSA ends up pulling people for carry-on contraband because they didn't want to check a bag.

Add all that to the incredibly cramped seating and narrowed foot room under the seats in AA coach, and....
