Says who?

According to the slide presentation this morning, CO's EUA and UA's SWU (for top elite) will both be incorporated. Of course, things can change...

OMG! The merger is announced and the FF's are crying with NO facts. LOL!

However, Flyertalk is your friend. They will carry on and complain for the next 12 months based on no facts and then....

Well, they merge and you get what we have on the Delta forum on there... Literally hundereds of posts complaining.

Have fun!

GEEZ, Everyone.
I'm just saying....based on my experience with UA and my cynical nature, I see benefits being slashed.

I'm also not complaining (what good would it do?)just speculating. Sorry I got you all riled up.

By the way, FF stand for Frequent Flyers so I've seen programs come, change and go with mergers so I don't think I'm that far off base.

I am not putting it down... I am there quite often.

However, any time ANY program makes ANY changes there will be a HUGE outcry of "whining" LOL! Some of it is fact based and some of it is just "whining" (For example every time I fail to get an upgrade on my major airline is REALLY not a newsworthy event LOL!)

Don't believe me... go read the Delta forum. It's become a huge litany of complaints about how much better NW was. I expect that at least one group of flyers from this merger will also be unhappy and will need to vent too... human nature.

I think that the OP will find more "sympathy" on there as the boards are geared towards frequent flyers then on here where they aren't. That's all!

Carol is right about the post-merger DL forum. Not only complaints but the amount of incorrect information being posted as factual has increased. I'm not saying that former NW elites don't have a right to complain but it does make finding useful/accurate information more difficult. I don't see that as "putting down" anything. It's just the reality of that particular forum right now and it will take time for things to return to "normal".

United's FF program benefits have already been slashed. The explanation was that this was to make the program more in line with other FF programs.

It is not goodbye to automatic elite upgrades, which I assume is CO thing. United implemented Unlimited Domestic Upgrades back in March. That eliminated the 500-miler upgrades and almost eliminated the CR1 upgrades (for U.S., Canada, ...). The number of seats available for confirmed upgrades, both CR1 and SWU has shrunk considerably.

The days of flying LAX-BDL on a $260 ticket, upgraded to F at booking time using a CR-1 weeks in advance, are going or gone. I always thought that was a bit unfair, sitting in F on a rock-bottom fare (me) while a last minute Y fare (never me) was sitting in back, but I got over it.

Mileage requirements for MP awards also increased last year. For example, N. Am to Japan in economy/business, from 60/90 to 65/125, the same as OnePass. How long have the OnePass awards cost that much.

It looks like an F award to North Asia would be 135,000 miles with OnePass but 145,000 miles with MP.

rk, the EUA is like UDU (unlimited domestic upgrades), isn't it. Is there a CO equivalent to a SWU?

I am a Platinum on Delta. However, I fly on 'bottom feeding fares' There's no way they make money flying me to the West Coast for $180! So I don't complain when I don't get the upgrades. Before I took this job I did fly on Y and practially NEVER sat in the back, but... Sometimes in life you get what you pay for.

There is no SWU on CO. EUA applies to all elites, starting as early as 5 days for plats, 3 days for gold and 1 day for silver. But it's up to CO whether they'll be released that early, as often they're not.

What IS "guaranteed" is that there shouldn't be any empty seats in F (any flight except for those in the BusinessFirst market), if there's any elite in the back when door closes.

So the OP won't lose EUA. In effect that benefit just got renamed UDU.

OP actually got the added benefits of SWUs and CR1s if s/he makes 1K.
