UA EQM's

I am 17 miles short of enough eqm's on ua to reach another e-upgrade level. Can I take a cheap r/t flt on Aloha to qualify? Do Aloha Airlines miles count as EQM'S on ua's mileage plus program?

Aloha!

No, they don't count as EQMs.

Aloha is a UA partner but not in Star Alliance.

You could get a one-way HNL-OGG for $122 and $49 (or 5000 miles for an award) return on Aloha.

I'd call MP and ask them the question. Maybe they will give you a break without you asking. Then you could just ask.

The $122 fare being on United.

For some reason I can't seem to put everything in one post today.

Too bad United doesn't sell the OGG-KOA flight (UA3) as an independent segment. That would be perfect!

Are you looking for miles toward e-upgrade level (e.g., 4 e/ups for every 10k) or elite level? If the former, those miles have to be on United metal, as opposed to EQMs for elite levels, which can come from any Star Alliance partner.

ht, do you have a ua mileplus visa credit card? i believe a certain value of purchases using the card will equate to eqms.

ms_go is right, for the 500-milers only paid United flight miles count, not EQMs.

If you have a MP Platinum Visa and use it to purchase tickets at united dot com to fly on United then you will earn one EQM per dollar, up to 5000 EQMs per year. The annual fee is $140 which is paid by United if you are a 1K.

Just to follow up I called UA and half way through my "story" the agent mentioned that she had credited my account with the 17 miles and with a "Happy Holidays" thus restoring my faith in mankind.

Aloha!

I believe that the 500-miler e-certs don't post until the first Saturday of the month after reaching the required mileage.

The region-1 upgrades for 1K post the 2nd Saturday.

Forgot to mention that the platinum visa gives 5000 bonus EQMs the first year and 2500 bonus EQMs each year after.

Ken
Pls share your UA cancellation story with other fodorites. Lots of us fly UA to and from BKK. I've never had a flt cancelled, personally. Brad and a friend had their NRT-BKK flt cancelled and they were put on ANA or JAL instead. There was a problem getting miles credited, but finally got the job done.

HT... good for you! I have usually found the UA reps to be very nice and helpful. Glad it worked out for you. Where's your next trip?

Carol,

The agent was really friendly and am glad all worked out.

We are just back from a short shopping/eating jaunt to SFO and are going to Maui for our Silver Anniversary in Jan. After that it will be Japan for 4 weeks starting April 5. Haven't figured much after that but am sure Ken will be going somewhere soon

Ken, so what did happen in bkk, enquiring minds want to know, lol

Aloha!

I'll join others in wishing you a happy anniversary! I think those designer jeans are a must-do! You've reached a big milestone.

Are you thinking about flying out to BOS in October??? We'd love to have you at the GTG.

Ken,
So what happened on UA?

Saw this same question elsewhere. I don't have a date yet. I am hoping it is once again during the first half of October. We'll have to see what Bob and Andy come up with.

Does that mean you are thinking about coming out?
