Hey, that's great! When I flew my kitty home years ago, she too was quiet the whole time, with two flights and a connection. She seemed perfectly calm the whole time - no issues with flying - until I got on the MAX train home. There was a dog on the train (had probably been on our flight) in a carrier, on the train, and when my kitty saw her, suddenly she got very nervous, pushing as far back into her carrier as she could go, poor thing! When we finally got home and I let her out of the carrier (first time in the house), I figured for sure she would quickly go and hide from so much anxiety. Instead, she was very curious about her new surroundings and set about exploring the area.

That's great. When I brought my cat and Scottie back to the States from the UK - My goodness, one snafu after another. Unfortunately both had to go in the hold. This was in the 90's so before 9/11 and Customs/immigration wasn't the hassle it is now.

1) when I got to LHR the pre booked crates were. . . . One larger crate. OMG. The Charlie (the Scottie) and Oly (the crazy ginger cat) hated each other. Didn't fight but were enemies (who both loved mt Airedale). Nothing to do but put both in the same Crate(!). I was scared spitless all the way to . . . SeaTac. 2) Was supposed to be SFO but there was an ATC strike and lots of cancellations/rescheduling. AA got me on a flight to Seattle and we'd deal with getting down to SFO then. I didn't see the animals at SeaTac - they got me on a flight leaving almost immediately and the animals were transferred straight too that flight 3) when we finally arrived at SFO . . . they couldn't find the crate!!!! My folks were at SFO to drive me the 2 hours home and we had this close [ ] to a major scene . . . 'WHERE are my animals?? !!!!" they finally located the crate and . . . the two had a total personality transplant they apparently bonded and for the rest of their lives slept together every night.

The other weird thing - Charlie really disliked my mother (I think it was her smoking but I'll never be sure). Every time my folks came to visit me in England - Charlie spent the duration under the sofa - growling whenever Mom came into the room. At SFO, the first person he saw when they opened the crate. . . . was my mom. And he ran up to her tail wagging and wiggling all over. They were best buds from then on.

Thank you for telling the story of the journey. That all sounds about as good as it gets! My new guy (10 months old) made his first car road trip from Seattle down to Corvallis last weekend to meet my family.

Yes, Ginger is settling into condo life and loving all the new flavors of cat food! The only problem (to me, maybe not to her) is that she is not allowed outside my unit unless she is in her cat carrier. I had hoped to put up some kind of clear barrier on the little deck (it is ground level and she could easily get through the posts), but the condo does not allow it. My son, who lives about 3 miles from me, has invited her over for outside time in his fenced back yard, but I am not sure that is a good idea (she might get under the storage shed).

Consider a harness and a leash if you want to give Ginger some "outside time." In my neighborhood in Portland, cats get lost all the time - I see posts on NextDoor and flyers up on telephone poles all the time. Some are found but some are never found. Very sad. I've only recently started letting my indoor cat go outside on my fenced-in porch when I'm with her; she's older now and can't jump very high anymore and doesn't seem like she'll go anywhere.
