Transit visa for UAE (Dubai)

Hi,
I will be transiting via Dubai international Airport during by trip from canada to singapore and back on Emirates Airlines. I tried to look the the emirates airlines website as well the Dubai Foreign affairs website. They have information about a 96-hours transit visa that one can apply for provided the transit duration is minimum 8 hours. But they have specified how long on can stay in the transit area without having to obtain a transit visa. My transit duration will be approximately 8 hours at the Dubai Airport for both journeys. And I'm an Indian passport holder. I would be very thankful for any suggestions/information.

I also posted this under the Asia forum, not being sure about where to post this. sorry!

absolutely and you do not need a transit visa if you are going to be at the airport and incase you were connecting with emirates you do not need a transit visa and they typically would offer youa hotel room for free
