Theft Prevention?
My friend is traveling to a golf tournament in DC with some very expensive golf clubs. He is concerned that they may be stolen if he transports via checked baggage. To ship them FedEx would cost $115. Should he be concerned about the clubs being stolen, if so, is there anything he can do to make a theft less likely? Or should he pay to have them shipped?

I take my sticks about 25% of the time I travel.Never had a problem.I have never been concerned about theft.I have a Turtle cover and I never have to worry if they are going to be damaged either. But I would never use any kind of soft side bag otherwise they would be damaged.

Insurance is not a protection against theft.I would say FedEx them if he absolutely has to have the clubs. If the clubs are in a container not easily identified as golf clubs, then the theft would be less likely.Insurance would be an option, and not expensive. But it will not prevent a theft.

Good advice above, plus I believe that logic would dictate that it would be pretty hard for a baggage handler to steal the entire bag. Cameras, small valuables, etc. are easy to hide, but can you see a worker walking with a golf bag to his car?
