My daughter, who has quite a reputation among her huge circle of friends, for her baking and candy making is flying a very long distance this summer to 'an event' being hosted by two of her friends. They have asked her to contribute one variety of her hand-dipped chocolate candies to the menu. I seem more concerned that she does about the feasibility of getting all that hard work and monetary investment through airport security. Does anyone have any experience traveling with such items? For obvious reasons (heat), she does not want to put it in her checked bags. Any words of wisdom to share?

There's a link on the TSA website about traveling with food. It's doesn't really address this item. It does say that pies and cakes can be taken through the security checkpoint, but will be subject to extra screening.

Can she do the baking after she arrives? Even leaving aside the issue of security, anything odd that I don't have to carry with me when I fly, I try not to.

Could the candies in any way be construed to be a "gel or liquid"? That's the catch.
