Super cheap fares in business on Alitalia

Unfortunately it's only between Toronto and Cyprus, but a stopover is allowed in either Rome or Milan, so basically you could do Cyprus just for 1 night before or after Italy. The final cost in business class - are you ready? between $164 - $194 ALL IN, plus paper ticket charges from your favorite travel site. All kindsof dates available including summer and 2007. I believe you can't outbound on Wednesday and can't return on Sunday (I'm not sure about the inbound). Hurry!

Here is mine res:

How long did it take you to get booked? I tried for awhile this morning and couldn't see availability. This came up on FT after I went to bed last night

It looks like they pulled the fare. This is the message I got trying to price the same itn:

We're sorry, but due to changes in airline availability, the fare for your selected trip is no longer available. We have adjusted the fares for all affected itineraries. The fare for your selected trip is now $2779 total. See below.

Rex on Europe forum just got the ticket. He had to call, but got it all in for $204CAN.

Worth a try!

I got 2 for Feb on Orbitz five minutes ago - US$181 each all in.

No real urge to go to Cyprus and couldn't get a long layover at MXP or FCO to work (GDSs obviously straining over this today) so if it can't be changed maybe we'll hop a cheap RT to TLV from LCA and visit the cousins.

Looks like I've got to put these into my DL FF account; no eVIPs allowed on this itin.

Very cool thing, AAFF - thanks for the heads-up.

Kath...Just curious, what do you mean "cancelled"? Are they not going to honor the tickets that were issued at the low fare?

On flyer talk (as well as on the Foror's Europe Board) several people have said that their reservations were cancelled. This includes Rex on the Europe Board who AAFF mentions in this post. It seems that some even been ticketed - so I guess that means Alitalia isn't honoring the mistake. Seems it would have been QUITE costly.

Geez - I even previewed that response. I meant to say that even those who had been ticketed got cancelled.

According to a USA Today article today (quoting the WSJ) Alitalia issued and is honoring 509 tickets they issued with the incorrect fare. Alitalia was quoted as saying that they will honor those tickets that were reserved and purchased before they cancelled the incorrect posting of fares. Anyone who had reserved but not purchased the tickets will not have this fare honored.

So it seems as though there are 509 people that did get their tickets for the incorrect fare.
