Summer Air Fares??

Does anyone know when airlines normally post their fares for summer travel? I'm trying to decide how long to wait to book a very expensive (for me) flight. Most of the 'specials' I'm seeing now expire 6/12 and I need to travel on 6/19.

There is no consistency to when you will see the best airfares for a given period of time. The only thing that you can do is check continuously. Depending on your itinerary, there may not even be any real specials by the second half of June. Still, if you let people here know some specifics of your travel plans and the fares you are seeing for it right now, someone may be able to offer more concrete advice about what a good fare for that period might look like. I often find my best fares in the period between 60 and 90 days in advance, but I've jumped on things that I knew were deals as much as nine to 10 months out, too.

Since you are not flying during a special holiday (Christmas, New Years or Thanksgiving Wed. to Sun) I would keep waiting. I've been watching flights for Europe and I haven't seen a good reduction yet. It seems airlines are waiting to the last minute to reduce prices. I think this is the year to have several ideal vacations in mind and go with one the last minute that has a good special.

In the meantime, keep checking each day.

With the number of air travelers up and capacity still down, there may nit be as many specials this sumer.

You did not mention what country are you flying to....very important to know to give reliable advice....summer to Europe is peak season, while travel to South America or Australia is the off-season...
