Star Alliance to Greece
I'm traveling to Greece next Summer with a friend. I'll be using my Delta miles for a Business Elite ticket (assuming they're still flying). My friend will be using United miles for a business class ticket (once again, assuming they are still flying). Of the Star Alliance airlines, whose business class do you recommend for crossing the Atlantic - UAL, Austrian, LOT Polish, Luthansa or SAS?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Under some very recent changes, you now can only use UA miles to book award travel on Lufthansa within 90 days of travel (this was a change that just went into effect on 10/1 and has not been widely publicized). That will limit the options quite a bit. Your friend should probably contact Mileage Plus to see what options are available.

I hear excellent things about bmi's trans-atlantic services, although you are terribly limited to Chicago/Washington/Toronto and arriving at Manchester. 'Tis easy at MAN to hop over to Greece.
Singapore Airlines also fly across the Atlantic from JFK to FRA and they, without a shadow of doubt, blow most of the other *Alliance members out of the water.

You can find out the routing on Star Alliance carriers by using the schedule info at www.star-alliance.com
I am planning a * Alliance trip to India. Looks to me like the Austrian Airlines business class seat might be nicer than Lufthansa.
LH definitely flies to Athens as do several of the other * carriers. You can also check other cities in Greece. For example, Austrian also flies to Thessaloniki. I wouldn't be too surprised to find one of them flies to Crete, maybe Mykonos.

Thanks to all for the information. Austrian Air was the best option for my friend. It was much easier for me to book on Delta versus my friend on United/Star Alliance. Even though I've swithched my preferred airline over the past year due to a change in geographic business travels as well as a company mandate, I hope Delta pulls out of their financial situation. I've always had good luck with them and claiming coach and Business Elite reward travel has been easy - as have upgrades.
