Also, regarding seating: Since I never fly first or business class, I get just as good seat on Southwest as I do on any legacy airline.
In fact, the chance of getting a desireable seat is higher on Southwest, because I can almost always check in online 24 hour ahead, assuring me of getting into the A set, whereas by the time I book my ticket on legacy airlines there often are nothing but middle seats left.
