SIA A380-800 Versus B777-300ER .

G'day all,
I've never travelled on an A380-800 before. I have the option to wait 6hrs at Singapore airport to fly to Melb on the A380-800 or wait only 2.5 Hours to travel by a B777-300ER. Both SIA. Is the A380-800 worth the wait?
Thanks & Regards, Matt.

I understand that both planes have the same (new) seats in economy class, with the same pitch (32.0") and width (19.0").

The B777 has 3-3-3 seating, the A380 has 3-4-3 in the lower deck and 2-4-2 in the upper deck. On the lower deck, the window seats have restricted legroom, but extra space on the sides (the body is narrower on the floor than at the ceiling). The upper deck has the feeling of a smaller aircraft, with a steep curvature of the aircraft's body.

Speaking of comfort, I see no advantage of the A380 in economy class. The feeling of the aircraft will be a little different.

Comparing 2.5 hours to 6 hours, I would probably choose the B777. The only "advantage" of the A380 is that you can say "I have flown it" afterwards.

I have no idea, but Changi is certainly the place for a long layover (go get yourself a masssage at the Airport Transit Lounge!)

I actually flew the A380 one way and the 773 the other, earlier this year. If you are in coach (and, from the looks of it, business), there is no appreciable difference between the two planes.

As much as I like Changi airport, I wouldn't be overly inclined to deal with the longer layover just for the A380. Now, if the schedule otherwise worked better for arrival into Melbourne, I might consider it.
