Seat Upgrades

Hi there

We are a couple flying to Las Vegas in Sept 2011 and have started looking at flights but was wondering what the best way is to get the extra leg room seats on the plane. I know that a few companies offer seats like Economy Plus if you want to pay the extra fee (which we don't mind doing if we have to) but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions on this?

Thanks!

We get economy plus seats only if we are traveling on long flights, like 10 hr to London (BA) etc. We are traveling to Maui next week and got Economy Plus tickets for that flight because it is 7 hrs. (United Airlines). I usually get the tickets on the airline web site then they offer the upgrade if you want it.

<<pay the extra fee (which we don't mind doing if we have to>> - good, because that is what you will have to do if you want to be sure to get those seats.
You can also look at www.seatguru.com to scope out the plane in which you will be flying and try to get one of the better non-premium seats.

If you decide to fly United, you can buy Economy Plus Access which is good for a year and applies to you and one other person sitting next to you. For a light LHR-LAS this may be cheaper than paying for two E+ seats for your trip. I think the E+ Access costs around $400USD but I could be off on this.

Check with the airlines about the cost, but I would get them for a flight from London to Vegas.

We paid $100.00 RT (PP) to upgrade on BA last year (2009) from Denver to London, and $78.00 RT (PP)to from Denver to Maui next week. (I think the BA must have been a special).

You are going to have to pay.

"free upgrades" on international are VERY rare if ou donj't have any status with the airline. Sorry!
