Precision Air - Arusha to Zanzibar

When we fly OUT of Zanzibar we will fly to Nairobi on Kenya Air and allowed 40 lbs and a carry on.

I was just informed today by my tour group that when we fly from Arusha TO Zanzibar on Precision Air I am allowed only 30 lbs and no carry on.

The airplanes we are flying are both the same, = ATR 72. How strict are they going to be in Arusha for Precision Air on over weight and does any one know how much the overages cost? I have sent an email to Precision but Im not getting an answer.

Thank you!

It's not that you're not allowed a carry on, it's that Precision states the allowance as a total to include both checked baggage and carry on. You'll be fine with a carry on and in practice, I doubt they'll weigh your carry on.

I've only flow Precision out of Nairobi and we had a 20kg allowance which is what's stated on their website http://www.precisionairtz.com/flightschedule.asp

The carriers that use smaller aircraft on this route (Coastal, Zanair, Regional, Air Excel, etc) have a 15kg limit.

Patty....thank you so much. I swear I looked on that page about 6 times and even sent them an email and never saw the luggage amount listed!! DUH! GAD! I checked again just now and saw the 20 K etc.

Lord love us ancient people!!!

Ok I think I"ll be ok or darn close to it....do you know what they charge for over weight by chance? A flat $50 or $500 per kilo?

Thanks.

I don't know exactly how much they charge for overweight baggage but I don't think it's that much. I'm guessing it's a few dollars per kilo based on what some of the other carriers charge.
