Please help--Tel Aviv to Italy
DD is in Israel now (with Birthright program--AMAZING experience) and after spending 6 months in Italy last year can't stay away. So, she wants to go back for a few weeks in August, but I'm having no luck finding inexpensive transportation options from here on the Internet. She's thinking of maybe stopping in Athens and Delphi (have relatives there), but Italy is the top priority. Please help if you can.

One way or return? If return, then probably Alitalia's direct flights to Rome or Milan would work best. Flights to Larnaca (Cyprus) are fairly inexpensive from TLV, and there are low cost carriers to other points in Europe that serve LCA. Ditto Athens (although ATH is closer to US$250 one way while LCA is half that on Air Cyprus.)
Also she might drop into the TA branch of STA, the big student travel agency - http://www.blueefaqs.net/linktrackin...p;branch=ISSTA

Gardyloo,
Thank you so much! I should have mentioned that it would be return--she has a flight back from Tel Aviv. I
will forward these responses on the her (once she has Internet--apparently the Bedouins aren't hooked into it yet!)

In US I wouldn't advise to use a travel agent, but after spending an hour at friend's work in Tel Aviv I was amazed at how many people use travel agents for personal arrangements.
Also, an airport usually has a list of airlines posted in the Internet - maybe not the case due to high security?

Try if she can find flights to Italy via Israir or Arkia. They are Israeli discount airlines. Regular schedules, not charter.
I also heard there are double-pricing schemes in Israel, one for USD "foreigner" rates and another cheaper one for NIS "sabra" rates. I would ask if anyone local can get the latter...
