Go to kayak.com and select multi-city trip. It is a start. They will give you various itineraries. You can book thru airline website, but if it involves more than one airline (it very well may) this is one time when it might make sense to use a travel agent and pay the fee.

be aware that kayak does not list any flights for American. So you will have to do a separate search for AA flights possibilities.

You can also use mobissimo.com which will include American or itasoftware.com which gives many options and lists the disadvantages, e.g. different airport, long layover, etc, of any options.

Would you be willing to return to Los Angeles, if flying in/out the same airport saved money?

Thanks for any ideas- we would be happy to arrive back in LA- we will fly into LAX- meet up with a tour group for the Rose Parade- the tour group will proceed to Laughlin- etc etc and final destination is Las Vegas.
Maybe it would be more practical if I rented a car in Vegas and dropped it off at LAX---what are thoughts on this?
Any suggestions appreciated.

As an FYI, kayak.com just started listing AA fares again.

You could also take a one-way flight back to LAX from Las Vegas to connect with your return to Raleigh. Good luck farehunting.
