Opinions on Northwest for Europe

I am posting this question for some guidance on the airline Northwest. I am flying from Orlando to Frankfurt Sept 1. Leaving Sept. 12 from Paris (CDG) back to Orlando.

My only previous experience with international flights is with Delta. My husband found 3 tickets (for myself, my 14 year old and husband) on Northwest for $1000 less than what Delta has had. Not having any experience with any other airline I was wondering what the opinion of Northwest is. Also, if you have an opinion on any other airlines I would appreciate any other views as well. It would be great if there was in flight entertainment such as movies, TV, games and such so my son (an consequently myself) will still be sane when we arrive there as well as home. Thank you so much for your time.

You must have a change of planes in either Detroit, Minneapolis or Memphis or I don't think you are on a Northwest flight. Check the equipment they are using. If you are on a DC 10, sorry. But if you are on one of the newer Airbus A330, good news. You can check www.seatguru.com for the best seating assignment and video/audio options.

I am still getting conflicting stories on whether beer and wine are free with Northwest on international flights? Can someone respond who has flown during the past two months with NWA.

Yes, beer, wine and those cute little bottles of distilled spirits are complimentary on Northwest transatlantic and transpacific flights. (It was true in April and I'll personally check again next weekend for you, okay?)

Well, we bought our tickets last night for about $840 each for 3 of us!! We are SO ready to go!!! We leave Sept 1 out of Orlando at 1:30 pm and arrive in Frankfurt at 7:45 am, there will be a 1 ½ layover in Detroit. On the way back we leave Sept 12 from CDG and back to Orlando with a layover in Detroit again. Price was great and if all holds true with opinions the trip should be fine. I will post our experience with this airline when we get back, I hope all goes well!! Thank you for all of you input and opinions……it is always very helpful! : )

Try to sit near the front half of the plane. There is a little more leg room and the seats have powerports for laptops. Glad we could help. Let me know if you get free alcohol or if you have to pay $5 like ALL of the rest of the U.S. airlines are doing.

perhaps you should look into AA (not the airline).

I enjoy a glass or two of wine with dinner. Doctors are recommending 2 glasses of wine per day for men and 1 for women. I will follow the advice of the medical professionals and not the advice of AAFrequentoutburst.

BTW, I'm 49, my body fat is 8%, my resting pulse is 52 and I'm not on any medication--including viagra! Can you beat that?

I stopped drinking sodas six years ago and it was the best thing I could have done. Vegetables that I hated now taste sweet. A good friend of mine used to weight 368 pounds and drank Diet Coke. Diet Coke doesn't work, people. When I told her to try a glass of wine, her response was, "It's bitter." Yes, everything is bitter when you eat it with a Diet Coke or ANY soda.

You can go to the South of France and buy a bottle (750M) of wine for 1.5 euros. In the restaurants in France, a soda is more expensive than a glass of wine.

But in the United States the airlines will give you a free soda but charge you $5 for a glass of wine. Yes, make you fat so they can make money.

And schools across our nation have soda machines throughout their campus and encourage kids to drink soda in the classroom. Why, because if they make the kids fat, they can make money, too.

I could use that drink now.

1st drink is free, after that you pay $5. That's for flying to Europe. Just came back 2 weeks ago and don't think they've changed just yet
