Never again Independence Air!!!

First of all, they overcharged me $100 and still have not credited my account although they promised to do so within 30 days.

As if that isn't bad enough, my check-in bag had its handles torn off. When I complained the Independence Air customer service person told me that they were not responsible for damaged bags. So, apparently they can do anything they want with your luggage and not be held accountable or even try to help out! Good thing the bag was light enough or I'd have to shell out $60 for a long cab fare.

Independence Air stinks!!!

Handles and wheels are never covered by airline for damage. That's a risk one takes whenever you check a luggage. However, if you ask "really nicely", they may be able to do something like a travel voucher or FF miles.

Yep. I'm certain this has happened to numerous people on any airline. It's unfortunate, but it's reality.

Sometimes the hardships we experience when flying are enough to make us say "never again" and sometimes we realize that it was a fluke and that the cost savings of being willing to fly a particular airline is worth it, even though a previous experience was less than stellar. We all have our threshholds. I guess this was yours.

Sorry you had a bad experience with them. I have only had good experiences with them. They let me onto an earlier flight when I got to the airport ealy one time with no charge or hassle. They are also offering the new Happy Bags promotion where you are credited for free travel if you bags don't arrive on time.

Mea culpa!

Or, I was mistaken about the refund. When I called Independence Air they said they already had refunded the money. And sure enough, they did that back in April. Not sure why I didn't catch that the first time.

As for the bag, it does seem rather unfair that anything can be done to one's luggage without any recompense whatever. It makes me think twice about checking in any bag in the future, although I may have to if the trip is a longer one. Of course, this is mainly the baggage handlers' fault, not the airline.

Anyway, I take back what I said about Independence Air. The flight itself was fine and the attendants were actually friendly. I may well fly them again.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry about jumping to hasty conclusions - blame it on a broken bag and an aching back. It left me in an angry, plaintive mood.

Glad to hear they followed through for you. Based on what I have heard from others about the airline I'm not suprised.
