My first time through CDG - need a little help?

Hi.
Posted this in the Europe forum, but this is probably the better place.

I'll be traveling through CDG from LAX on my way to Edinburgh. This is my first time through CDG and will be my first international flight in about 30 years.

It appears that I don't have to leave CDG 2E for my connecting flight - AF69 to AF5052.
I have maybe 1hr 20mins at CDG.

So - will I need to go through security/customs, etc? Will my checked bag be transferred from 69 to 5052, or do I need to do anything?

Sorry if it seems silly to ask these questions, but I don't travel well, and since my last trip abroad was such a disaster, I just want to know if I have it right.

Thanks for the help!

Since the UK doesn't belong to the Schengen common travel area that France is in, your transit is a pure international one. No immigration, no customs, no bags claimed. Not sure if there's any security check, however.

Very good indeed! Thank you for the info. I thought it was as simple as that, but not having been out of the country for awhile I wanted to make sure.
My only concern about security is the time; I hear that it can take ages to get through and don't want to miss my flight out.

Thanks again.

BTW, I like this site - learning a lot on the forums.

No customs, but every time I've come from the US thru CDG there has been a security check for international transfers even if I stayed at the same terminal. Barring any serious delays I don't think time will be an issue.

There will be security checks from terminal to terminal. Just move along and get to your gate.....and watch that they dont change the gate at the last minute.

Then you have to move along again!!!

But its a nice airport!

Just a reminder to double check the terminal information for your Edinburgh departure. I've flown several times on AF69 and always had to go to Terminal 2F for my next flight to other European cities. If you do have to go to 2F it's a 10-15 minute walk after clearing passport control. The secutriy lines do move quickly so time should not be a problem. By the way, the Edinburgh airport is very easy to get around because it's not very big. Enjoy your trip.
