Meeting with the "CO Insider"

There was a mini get-together of the Continental Airlines community on Flyertalk on Saturday, here in Houston. About 15 of us went to have drinks at the Flying Saucer on Main St, then watched the Astros pre-season game at Minute Maid Park, and then back to the Flying Saucer for more drinks and talk, with a few others joining. It was great fun.

It was my first time at the Flying Saucer. Great place, excellent beer selection. It's no Bricskeller in DC, but still very good. The "Beer Princess" there are real cute too.

And the Astros won.

One of the attendee was CO Insider, who is Managing Director, Customer Experience at Continental. I chatted with him during the game and at the bar later on. Really cool guy, who actually loves flying around the world on all different airlines. Not just some guy in a suite, but a real traveler. He even kept track of how many airports he's been in the world - which is over 400 now. [I'm at 93 right now.]

We also talked about CO's last two 772, seats on the new 787, premium economy, elite middle seat blocking, NYC snowstorm and so on. Some new information, but mostly all of us just want to get to know each and have a great time. It's great to know that some pretty high level airline manager is willing to spend a Saturday afternoon, not with the wife and kid, but with some of their customers.

Two thumbs up from me.

Here are some pictures from the event:

And here are some real "insider information" I've posted on FT:

I have nothing to add about CO or Flying Saucer (except that I think there are a few Flying Saucer outposts in DFW), but I do want to make a comment:

I had one of my worst meals EVER at Brickskeller!

awesome. i chat sometimes on flyertalk (though the pages load slowly on my computer when i refresh, hit "back" etc- annoying!)- so it's nice to put faces w/ names.

rkkwan, do you mind my asking where you live in houston? i grew up in ponderosa forest, copperfield, and bear creek area.

I live in Southwest Houston. Closest major intersection is S. Gessner @ W. Airport. Very close to Beltway 8.

That sounds like a lot of fun, well except for the baseball game.

It was alright. A nachos supreme occupied me for a few innings.
