KLM: Portable DVD Player onboard? Any power outlets? Laptop better?

I'm flying on KLM from Houston to Amsterdam and then onto Rome. It'll be a long flight and only one TV screen for 3 seats which equals to boredom! I hate having no choice in what I have to watch for 10 hours. You can only sleep so long in an uncomfortable position! Is there a power outlet in couch for either a DVD player or a laptop? Their batteries last only so long. Ideas? Thanks!!!

Unless you're flying the all-business class KL663/4, you'll be on an older 747-400. There's no power outlet in coach, and I think you get a screen every few rows, not every 3 seat. And if you have a window seat, forget about seeing the monitor.

Yep, 10 hours of hell! We have an Aisle and middle seat. Luckily no Window seat!

If you're Flyingblue or other Skyteam elite, you can ask for a seat up in the very front coach section, where seating is 3-2 with just one aisle. My parents fly KL on IAH-AMS about once a year, and they love those seats up there. Quiet cabin, and lots of room between the seats on the "2" side and the wall.

I got an external supplemental battery for my DVD player which claims to add 6 hours plus the 2 hours I get from the player.

I went to battergeek website and they help determinne what battery you need for your machine.

I haven't used it yet but bought it for me and 2 kids ATL to Bangalore. The extra batteries are expensive $100+ but I think worth it. (This was part of reason I bought cheaper DVD player since long power is most important to me).
