JFK - Long Term Parking?
The economy is taking its toll, so I have let my driver go and need to know about long-term parking at JFK:
- Is it easy to locate, coming off of the Van Wyck Expressway?
- How does the transportation from the lot to terminals work?
- Frequency of trips; cost?
- Do I need to make a reservation?
Thank you.

Yes, quite easy. Take the Kennedy Airport exit and follow signs for long term parking. Cost is $15/day, and you can pay with EZPass if you have one.
- How does the transportation from the lot to terminals work?
AirTrain goes from LT parking (Station B, Lefferts Blvd), stops at Station C, Federal Circle/Rental cars, then on to T1, T2, etc. It takes about 10min from LT parking to T1, and another 8-10min all the way to T8. Painless/brainless ride.
There are 2 train routes. The Jamaica train that goes to LIRR and the Howard Beach train. The HB is the one that goes to/from LT parking. You'll need to know that for your return trip back to your car.
- Frequency of trips; cost?
Every 8-10min or so. I rarely have to wait long. AirTrain from parking to terminals is free.
- Do I need to make a reservation?
Nope - just drive in and park.

I used this lot and tram two years ago in February. Found a space quickly but I would think the parking at this lot must be limited. I have a trip in April and plan to use this lot. How can I be sure a space will be availible?
I really don't want to scramble at the last minute for parking.

There is no way that all of these lots can be full! They seem to extend for blocks and blocks! And blocks!
I was very impressed when I used them last month. There is a bus that takes you from the parking lots to the AirTrain station; trains seem to run often. A bit of a walk from the train to the Delta terminal, though, if you are carrying a heavy bag.
Not bad at all, considering this is JFK!

The only time I've ever seen the long term lots near capacity was Friday or Sat at the start of Easter/spring break. There were still spots open and IIRC they had overflow lots ready if needed.
Check the panynj.gov website to see if they have a parking info call #.
