Is I hr 10 min enough connection time at CDG?

We're flying from Naples through CDG to the East Coast on Delta in August. Just checked "my trip" on Delta and they had red exclamation points saying we might not make our connection with only 1 hr 10 min. Have not received email notice from Delta concerning this. I checked their schedule on line and they are still listing that as a connection. What's up?

If it was AF then I'd say it's OK, though tight due to the need to pass through immigration, otherwise I'd be finding out what your options are THEN contacting Delta.

Presumably one or other of the flights has had it's times changed

That's what is so weird. The times have NOT changed from Naples to CDG and from CDG to Atlanta and they are still offering that connection on their website. That's what irritates me so much. You choose an airline based on the convenience of their flights and then they change the flight schedule. In this case, they haven't changed the flight schedule but they're saying we might not make the connection.

We have made a connection like yours at CDG but it was a great worry to us. I told my DH that I would never cut it that close again, although the airline (also Delta) said it was possible. Good luck!!

I have a 1 hr 10 min connection through CDG in September... All one ticket, all AF. I am slightly concerned BUT as it's the same airline and terminal I am not too worried ( and my onward flight is only 1 hour anyway, so if I miss it there are others that day) that said if it were me in your situation I would call Delta...
Although you won't have to pass through immigration as you will already be coming from Italy, assume you can go straight through as a transfer.?

Are you actually originating in Naples or Milan (according to your other thread)?

For all practical purposes, an AF to DL connection is no different than an all AF connection.

You'll have to go through passport control at CDG to exit Schengen.

You're right ,Patty. I miss typed. We're flying AF from Naples, then Delta from CDG. I was at the Delta counter in Charlotte yesterday and the agent said that was enough time. Still can't figure out why Delta website under "my trips" posts a warning.

Airline schedules are assembled by computer algorithms rather than human logic. I can barely spell the word, never mind understand the complexities. But I do understand, from experience with CdG airport, that you should rely on common sense rather than expecting the airline schedule to protect you. You will go through passport control at CdG, usually routine, but will face a more thorough security check by Delta itself at the departure lounge. Don't calculate your available time by their published departure schedule. Delta (and lots of other airlines) now expect passengers to be seated in the airplane at least a half hour before takeoff and can be strict on shutting the door before the scheduled departure. They may be lenient on a feeder flight by their partner Air France, but I wouldn't bet on it. Also don't bet that an agent at a regional airport has any practical experience with transfers an ocean away. And even if you make it, your luggage may not (again my experience at CdG.) Go with your gut, which says you need more time for a comfortable connection.

I made a connection at CDG with far less time than that. Walk very fast and if time starts running very short ask if you can move to the front of the line. I have done this a few times when I'm in a pinch and most people are very nice about letting me go ahead of them.

Airlines base their transfer times on the assumption that nothing will go wrong. The very fact that they isssue a warning would cause me to seek a change.

Of course nothing ever goes wrong at that model of efficiency known as CDG. Aircraft never sit on the tarmac for 20 minutes before discharging their passengers to buses, which never take more than 5 more minutes to reach the terminal, which is always the same as the one you will be departing from.

There are never long lines at passport control and security, both of which are well-staffed with workers who would never deliberately stage work slowdowns over some obscure labor issue or hold up the line just because they are in a bad mood or just want to flirt with the pretty girls ahead of you. And, of course, you would never be the random traveler that security officials pull aside for a bag search and extra questioning. That never happens, does it?
