Is 30 minute Connection Time in O'Hare Possible
I'm considering a flight on American Airlines from Boston (BOS) to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) connecting in Chicago (ORD). My concern is that there will be only 35 minutes of connection time. I believe that means that I would be landing at O'Hare when boarding has already started for the flight to PVR. Does anyone actually believe that it's possible to make this connection at ORD?

Welcome to Fodors. I thought AA's MCT (minimum legal connection time) at ORD was 40 minutes. Is AA actually selling this itinerary? But no - I personally would never book a 30-ish minute connection at O'Hare.
ps: I don't know for sure what the MCT is but 35 mins seems too short . . .

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes, American Airlines is actually selling this itinerary. I called them and asked about it and they said they would never, ever sell a ticket in which the connection couldn't be made. Personally, I'm highly skeptical but there's a part of me that is thinking of rolling the dice since the one-way BOS>PVR is only 10k miles right now.

Are you changing planes or just stopping? Will you have checked luggage? Will you have luggage to get off the plane and carry or pull to the next flight?
Are the gates likely right next to each other?
Have you ever had a flight delay of ten or fifteen minutes they were not able to make up? If you miss the flight to PVR, is there another flight you could be accommodated on?
O’Hare - 🙏🏼

If you luck out and the departure to PVR gate is very close to your arrival from BOS gate and the BOS-ORD flight is close to on time you could make it. But if you miss the connection AA would put you on the next available flight - do you know if there ARE later flights to PVR?
